After six weeks on the road traveling to boat shows across the country, Shane Kwaterski with Solara Boats, was determined to get on the water with his young family. Our mission: try every boating activity in the Florida Keys over a four-day stretch.
Here's a daily summary of our trip:
Day 1: Cruise from Miami to Plantation Key to meet up with the family, then take a sunset cruise.
Day 2: Provision, set out for Alligator Reef Lighthouse (sea turtle spotted!), restaurant hop at the Ocean View, pet a manatee, and overnight on North Nest Key.
Day 3: Regroup on Islamorada, go tubing, hit the sandbar for some R&R, stop by Pier 88 Restaurant, then head out for an evening cruise.
Day 4: Stop by the bait shop, grab snacks and live shrimp, find a fishing hole along the mangroves, meet up with family for a swim and share memories on the water.
As you might imagine, it was a grueling task to test how much fun one could have aboard a brand new S-310 CW in the Florida Keys. The result? The unique layout of the S-310 Center Walkaround makes it far superior to a traditional center console for family fun. The S-310 CW competently handled every activity we threw at it. Its thoughtful balance of features and layout makes it well suited to everything there is to do in the Florida Keys. It's built with both a fishing-ready walkaround, and a massive climate controlled cabin below, allowing overnight or weeks-long stays to not only be possible, but comfortable.
Add in a kitchenette, refrigerator, cooler, bluetooth stereo (with subwoofer), seating for the extended family, and you have a complete entertainment machine. At the helm, we were never left wanting. Twin Garmin Chartplotters made navigating, whether offshore or in the ICW, simple. The standard Yamaha Helm Master joystick control allowed us to maneuver though narrow canals without hesitation. An unexpected bonus feature... A hidden ski pylon allowed us to pull the kids around on a tube for some mid-day excitement.
At the end of the trip, Shane and his family had a feeling of newfound connection, having created moments that will live on in their memories, and we proved that the S-310 CW is not just at home in the Florida Keys, but a home in the pearly azure waters of Florida's southernmost island chain.
