Solara is the latest chapter in the Livingston family's decades-long history of boatbuilding, a story rooted in ingenuity, craftsmanship, and a lifelong love of the water. Dave Livingston built his first boat at just fifteen years old using plans from Popular Mechanics. His passion for design eventually led to the iconic Livingston dinghy and decades of innovation across some of the marine industry's most recognizable brands.
His son, John Livingston, grew up surrounded by boats, spending his childhood exploring the San Juan Islands, Canadian Gulf Islands, and waters of the Pacific Northwest. Today, as President of Fluid Motion, John carries that family tradition forward through Solara.Designed and built in Washington State, Solara combines generations of boatbuilding experience with modern innovation, personalized owner training, and a nationwide network of support.
